Products v2 Changes

Squarespace is updating their product detail (PDP) and product collection pages. Squarespace is calling this update “Products v2” and it will effect the underlying css & html.

Here’s a comprehensive list of everything they’re changing.

Visually nothing will change, but the underlying code changes could effect some custom code you’ve added to those pages, including code you may have from my website or others websites.

Here’s an overview of what Squarespace is doing and my plan to keep our code up to date.

• Any NEW website (starting June 30) will automatically be using Products v2.

• All CURRENT websites will have the option to upgrade to v2 at any time before Aug 30th

• On AUG 30, all websites will be automatically transitioned over to Products v2

• Plugins - All of my plugins (not snippets from the Code Catalog or Tutorials) are updated and working in both v1 & v2. You shouldn’t need to do any ‘transition’ with those.

• Code Catalog Snippets & Tutorials - I’m in the process of updating all of the code snippets in my Code Catalog, as well as my tutorial pages that were effected by these changes. I’m about halfway through and will complete the rest by the end of this week.
