Buried Alive at Quake Lake
On the evening of August 17th, 1959 at he Rock Creek Campground in Cameron Montana, 19 people were buried alive by a massive mudslide caused by an earthquake. When it was all said and done, a total of 28 people passed away from the mudslide.
The mudslide damed up the creek that was running through the campground. The rising creek water added chaos to the rescue workers in an already chaotic scene. The barren trees in the creek are an ominous reminder of what happened some 60 years back.
The new lake was dubbed, "Quake Lake".
